Wednesday 12th October. Visiting the council offices :(

Neither of us really felt like riding today. It was drizzling rain, bit of a breeze to drive the rain through any iffy seams of our waterproof jackets and we have no water proof cycling trousers yet.

After about 3 minutes, the rain stopped and the sky brightened. We managed to pick up the pace and got on with getting into the city. We had a couple of near misses with a pair squirrels with a suicide pact, but apart from that, another uneventful journey.

We spent the day, discussing housing needs with the council. Not that we want housing particularly but living in a caravan has its stresses.  We thought that we would lay the groundwork just in case we need bricks and mortar rather than our moveable home. Job hunting went well too. We applied for half a dozen more jobs today. Conformation of an interview too. Its in Cornwall and the cycling there is a bit uppy downy!! Stunning county though.

The way back was pretty good. We fair hurtled home. The rain had come again, with a vengence. We gave up with our glasses after about a minute as we could see nothing ahead. We got our heads down and pedalled for all we were worth. From the Horsford roundabout to the loo block took 11 minutes and I was mightily impressed with ourselves. Thats 3.5 miles in those 11 minutes, and it had only just ticked over the minute so it could have been 10 1/2 as I am not sure how long my bike computer clock had said 17.55 for!

Kenn said that he loved the ride home, every second of it, despite being soaked to the skin. On the way back, once off the main cycling path and going over the river bridge (checker plate ‘path’) I thought that I was going to deck out as my slick tyres skidded all over the place on the wet surface. I thought I was going to drop my beloved bike, I have done just shy of 400 miles without a scratch on it and I’d like to keep it that way! Upon reflection, I thought that it was a good ride, even though I don’t ‘do’ wet if I can help it.

Same again tomorrow then.

Goal: 1000.
Miles today: 16.87
Miles to date: 546.18
Miles to go: 453.82
Max speed: Didn’t Look
Ave speed: Didn’t look
Feelings: Good ride. Wet :-(.

About RosieRosie

RosieRosie is a woman of a 'certain age' - whatever the hell that is supposed to mean, known. I feel about 26. I have no idea what I look like as some older woman keeps getting in the way when I look in the mirror. Married, to someone who is a bit indifferent towards me. I have a proper wanderlust and have finally moved - using the housing exchange system from - where I started in Inverness, down to Cornwall. It's taken since September 2011, when I left Inverness until March 2016 to get to Cornwall. That's not too shoddy with a swap here and a swap there, saving up again for each move. I am going to move again though. I can't handle the hills. My knees are 10 years too old for around here. Not ruling out Cornwall in the future but, for now, my riding is suffering. I love my bikes, I love my dogs and I love guitars. They all keep my busy.
