Monday 3rd September

Having not ridden on Saturday or Sunday, we were just shattered and did extra walking with the dogs instead of cycling, we felt that we really needed to get out today. Its only 5 more sleeps until the Tour of Britain Challenge ride and we wanted to cycle the last 5 miles of the ride, to see if there are any nasty hills when we are going to be knackered. Only one it seems and it has caught me out in the past. It had me gasping for breath tonight and I had only just got my breathing under control when Kenn caught up. He was muttering darkly about it too. Its probably only about 6%, maybe a smidge more as in points of a percent, but its short, narrow and horrible. We’ll go practice it again tomorrow night.

We actually rode from ours to Barnham Broom, up past the church where we picked up the final route for the Tour ride, up that horrible little hill but apart from that its nice and flattish. We saw a lot of other cyclists tonight, all coming towards us. A couple of them we saw twice. We saw them coming through Marlingford when we were on the way back. We came back from the showground entrance our usual route, down Herbie hill, through Marlingford to Barford, turned up Cock Street and home. All in all a nice little ride. We were in no hurry at all and just rode along chatting and were suprised at how fast we had actually gone.

We have decided to try and get some sponsorship to raise some pennies for Kidney Reseach UK, on account of Kenn having a transplanted kidney and all. I have set up a Just Giving Page to try to raise a bit of money. Its not the most attractive page in the world but I shall do some work on it over the next couple of days.

Same ride again tomorrow we think. Have a practice up ‘that’ hill.

About RosieRosie

RosieRosie is a woman of a 'certain age' - whatever the hell that is supposed to mean, known. I feel about 26. I have no idea what I look like as some older woman keeps getting in the way when I look in the mirror. Technically separated now and I'm just waiting for him to move out into his own place. I have a proper wanderlust and have finally moved - using the housing exchange system from - where I started in Inverness, down to Cornwall and back up to the Flatlands and Big Sky Country. It's taken since September 2011, when I left Inverness until May 2017 to get to somewhere that I really like. That's not too shoddy with a swap here and a swap there, saving up again for each move. Not ruling out going home to Norfolk if necessary. Time will tell. For now my mates are just a 90 minute or so, drive down the road. I love my bikes, I love my dogs and I love guitars. They all keep my busy.
