Nice quick ride today. We were planning on the Wymondham loop as we just need a quick 8 miles to complete our challenge of 250 miles this week. We got bored half way to Wymondham and cut across Youngmans Road which we knew brought us out on the Wramplingham Road, for a change of scenery. The road was a bit pebble-ey but it was pleasant enough, lots of blackberrys to return for in the car tomorrow anyway.
Once on the Wramplingham Road we went right to the Melton Road and followed it down to the Pockthorpe Road and right to the end, crossing the B1108 and off to Marlingford Mill and home on the back roads. Nice ride, all in all. We were in no hurry what so ever so just bimbled along turning our legs a bit.
The 250 miles was met and passed, which is great. A new challenge for October has been set. 250 miles to include some sort of event. We are still thinking of the Ruff Stuff event and we are actively looking for a couple of hard tail mountain bikes for the winter and so that we can do this event. Looking about for second hand bikes is quite interesting. We have looked at a few but as they have topped the scales at about 40lbs, we were not going to buy them. We’ve had BSOs that weighed that much before and it was not our idea of a laugh. We are looking for something a touch lighter than that. If anyone reading knows of such a bike (we need an 18″ and a 20″ as we are 5’8″ and 5’11” tall between us), please feel free to let me know. We are scouring ebay, gumtree and even the lovely cycle recycle have been send an email. We have 3 weeks to find something and I am sure that we will be getting new (to us) MTBs soon. Fingers crossed anyway.
