Round the block in the light snow

Having woken up with tonsils the size of golf balls, again, we took a rain check on the whole Themelthorpe Loop thing and stayed in the living room, under the duvet and watched Lovejoy on DVD instead. I also dosed myself up with anti-biotics, that I am still wading through, some painkillers and a lovely cup of tea.

Having sat around, come late afternoon, I began to feel better and Kenn wanted to go for a short ride so I changed out of my PJs (very decadent, sitting around by the fire in my PJs) and into my long cycling pants, cycling shoes and did the whole Michallin Man thing as I did yesterday and got on my bike. Today I took the Specialized Hardrock, rather than the Giant as it was snowing lightly and bloomin’ freezing. Farm thermometer said it was a whopping great 1 degree above freezing but plenty cold enough if you ask me.

We decided to only go around the Carleton Forehoe Short Loop, which is just shy of 4 miles which Kenn said was quite far enough for his first ride since Jan 6th. He was quite right, over that last mile my right hand was in pain with the cold, which is really unusual as my hands were in my Sealskinz gloves. My feet were like ice blocks and haven’t defrosted yet!

The ride was quite pleasant, we didn’t average over 10mph but then we didn’t make that much effort really. Kenn wanted to turn his legs and I have felt better, healthwise and probably shouldn’t have gone as my throat hurts and I need more tea now.

I hope to get out 2 or 3 times during the week. I am to break 60 miles by my birthday – that is in total for the year, not a 60 mile ride. I have a couple of weeks left so that should be very doable!

About RosieRosie

RosieRosie is a woman of a 'certain age' - whatever the hell that is supposed to mean, known. I feel about 26. I have no idea what I look like as some older woman keeps getting in the way when I look in the mirror. Technically separated now and I'm just waiting for him to move out into his own place. I have a proper wanderlust and have finally moved - using the housing exchange system from - where I started in Inverness, down to Cornwall and back up to the Flatlands and Big Sky Country. It's taken since September 2011, when I left Inverness until May 2017 to get to somewhere that I really like. That's not too shoddy with a swap here and a swap there, saving up again for each move. Not ruling out going home to Norfolk if necessary. Time will tell. For now my mates are just a 90 minute or so, drive down the road. I love my bikes, I love my dogs and I love guitars. They all keep my busy.
