3 lovely rides

After going the wrong way last Tuesday, I decided to ride the other way around the circuit and find the proper way. Before setting off, Kenn and I looked at google maps to discover the name of the road that we are supposed to ride down. Having done that, off we went.

Kenn said that his legs were stiff as they had taken several kilos off him at dialysis so we were having a steady ride and not too far. We rode to Wreningham, found the Hethel Road and followed it to the main big busy road through Hethel, turned right and then left and rode past Hethel woods to the cycle path  and then home again. It was nice and 11.01 miles in 55 minutes. Not the 8 or 9 miles planned but it was a great ride and Kenn said that his legs felt much better.

Then yesterday arrived. I decided to ride the same route again. Alone this time as Kenn was at dialysis. I went round that route in 45 minutes and change. I took 9 minutes and 12 seconds off the previous time. I thought that I was flying along but got royally scalped by a group of rides while riding along Browick Road. They just flew past me like I was going backwards. They were all male and probably in their mid 20s so they probably should have flown by a 40 something, slightly overweight and not wildly fit woman. I was pleased anyway.

Yesterday was also good for another reason. I have signed up for Cycletta Bedfordshire as its my nearest Cycletta event. I heard about these events, for women, last year but by the time I had heard of them the last of the season had been and gone. I have signed up for the 58km event and its on the 30th June this year.

Tonight was a short ride. Only 6.15 miles over 36 minutes or so. We rode down Silfield Road, Verdons Road & Park Lane, then down the footpath until the end. We then tried to find the rest of the footpath and after wading around in hip height grass, thistles and stinging nettles, falling down narrow drainage ditches etc we thought that we would go back on the footpath and go back the way that we had come (We paused My Tracks while we walked about). We know that there is a footpath and trail there, we can see it on google maps. Maybe GM is lying though. We then rode back along Park Lane, Verdons Road, crossed Silfield Road to Silfield Street and rode along there a bit and then took the first left which came to a T junction, turned left again and rode over the A11 for the 4th time today and onto Rightup Lane and home. Only a few miles but my legs were empty and I just wanted to spin them a bit. Tomorrow is a day off with a ride planned for Sunday and a long ride on Monday as long as the sun keeps shining otherwise it will be a long ride sunday and shorter ride on monday.

About RosieRosie

RosieRosie is a woman of a 'certain age' - whatever the hell that is supposed to mean, known. I feel about 26. I have no idea what I look like as some older woman keeps getting in the way when I look in the mirror. Married, to someone who is a bit indifferent towards me. I have a proper wanderlust and have finally moved - using the housing exchange system from - where I started in Inverness, down to Cornwall. It's taken since September 2011, when I left Inverness until March 2016 to get to Cornwall. That's not too shoddy with a swap here and a swap there, saving up again for each move. I am going to move again though. I can't handle the hills. My knees are 10 years too old for around here. Not ruling out Cornwall in the future but, for now, my riding is suffering. I love my bikes, I love my dogs and I love guitars. They all keep my busy.
